5 TYPES OF LIGHT IN A BOOTH
The newly developed control unit makes it even easier to evaluate color and appearance according to the wishes of each customer.
In addition to the illuminants D50, D65 and UV-A, two further alternative illuminants can be defined for ALT1 and ALT2 at the customer's request.
LED, fluorescent tube, or both?
Multiple light sources in the DLS Color Viewing Light v8 allow evaluations using both your internal color standard, as well as the light source where the final customer will see the product – ideal for metamerism detection. During manufacturing, JUST programs the ALT1 and ALT2 keys according to your specific requirements.
Configurations include:
A purely LED-based viewing booth with
ALT1 and ALT2 programmed according to two CIE LED Illuminants from B1 to B5
A Hybrid- viewing booth with
ALT1 according to one CIE LED from B1 through B5 and ALT2 using TL83/TL84/F11 with fluorescent tubes.
The resulting flexibility means your viewing environment can have D65, D50 as well as Store lighting (e.g. 4100K) and Home lighting (e.g. 2700K) – the full range of common environments.

Note: In February 2022, the EU Commission published new RoHS directives banning the use and sale of mercury-containing fluorescent lamps after August 24, 2023. LED-based luminaires are therefore much more sustainable than fluorescent lamps.
VIEWING CONDITIONS
ACCORDING TO CIE 15:2018
Five (B1-B5) of the nine new CIE light emitting diodes (LEDs) definitions have been added to the DLS Color Viewing Light v8 Series.
B1-B5 are typical blue excited phosphor type LEDs with different CCTs.

For the evaluation of shiny or reflective surfaces, a reproducible viewing angle that minimizes gloss and glare is recommended. These sample holders create a standardized viewing condition for such materials, further standardizing your viewing environment.
